Best Nuisance 2: the horror of Uncle Vic and Aunty Irene (audio)
In which the author, reading his own work, sounds a right bell-end.
Blimey, reading your own work is hard. Who knew?
Performance notes (ha ha):
(a) you can hear my stomach rumbling,
(b) I managed to mangle ‘hint of wistfulness’ into ‘hist of wistfulness’.
I note in passing that although I haven’t lost my Black Country accent, neither can I do a proper one anymore. I’m caught, as it were, between two worlds.
Psst… want to try my book?

The Background
This takes place on the last day of Phil’s Christmas holiday. We’ve already learned that his passion for being youthful comes at a price – a morbid terror of it ending . And here, a routine visit from his aunt and uncle provides a ghastly vision of his future.
The Sample
That was Phil at 21. What about you?
